In the subfield Experimental Psychology I, we are primarily concerned with research questions in the fields of memory, perception, object recognition and attention.
Furthermore, we investigate the topics of emotion, motivation and motivated attention.
We  pursue a cognitive-neuroscientific approach, that is, we integrate cognitive-psychological and neurophysiological research approaches.
Methodologically we measure brain waves by means of a so-called  electroencephalograph (EEG) with 128 electrodes. We focus on the analyses of oscillatory brain activity and the dynamic interaction between the generators of these oscillations.
Based on the data obtained in this technique we try to develop a comprehensive picture of the neural dynamics of cognitive functions.
In a new project we complete the EEG data by behavioral measures in virtual reality.
