Based on the knowledge gained in a Bachelor's degree in psychology, students in the Psychology Master's Program acquire the skills for both the scientific and professional analysis of human experience and behavior, as well as the design of interventions.
The Master's Program in Intercultural Psychology is special in that it is a unique multidisciplinary degree program in Germany that integrates different basic and applied subjects, thereby enabling a high degree of specialization.
The application-oriented Master’s Program Intercultural Psychology includes, among other things, the following three applied modules:
- Development and Culture: This module provides in-depth knowledge of the interplay between biology and culture and its importance in the course of human ontogeny as well as fundamental and in-depth knowledge about the role of the cultural models of autonomy and relatedness in the active construction of developmental processes.
- Intercultural Business Psychology: In this module, business psychology is deepened with special consideration of the intercultural aspects of work and organizational psychology. Topics discussed herein are e.g. work in intercultural teams, expatriate management or intercultural leadership.
- Cross-Cultural Social Psychology: Subjects of this module are the universality and culture-specific components of social psychological theories and findings (e.g. attribution, emotion, self-concept, group processes, dealing with conflicts). It also deals with the emergence of ethnic prejudices and intergroup conflicts and the associated psychological processes.
This wide-ranging content provides students with the opportunity to specialize and qualify professionally according to their own interests. In addition, it allows the opportunity to look beyond the boundaries of psychology. A minor subject is an obligatory part of the curriculum. Further minor subjects can voluntarily be taken by students. In addition to the professional orientation of the master, the minor subject offers a good opportunity to specialize and develop an individual personalized profile.
A total of 120 credits (CP) are to be acquired as part of the Master's Program. An overview of the distribution of the modules in the program can be found here (in German).
